About us

Shane Dudley

Ducklings and Dolphins is a new swim school I set up as part of the Swim England programme to help children become great swimmers but most importantly have fun whilst learning. To learn more about me and my passion for swimming please see information below and view profile.

History of Swimming
I have been privileged within swimming, sharing the same county team as Rebecca Adlington, along with the same coach Glen Smith who worked at Nottingham County squad and is now a national coach and taken athletes to win Paralympics medals. The head coach of Nottingham Nova was Bill Furnis who is now Head Coach of England Swimming and I attended many of his swim skills camps.
Qualifications
BTEC level 3 in Fitness and Development ,BA honours Sport and Leisure Studies 2:2 (Leeds Metropolitan University), STA Level 2, Level 3 In First Aid, Understanding ADHD, Coaching Disabled football, FA Level 1 and 2, Lego Therapy, CAHMS training, Child Protection, safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults and Health and Safety at Work.
Work experience

Working in Schools both secondary and primary as a Teaching Assistant, EAL teaching assistant, Behaviour Support Worker, Cover Supervisor. Working at Debbie Pope Swim School for many years ( which I would highly recommend if my Swim School is not your location). Also I have been Head Swimming Coach at Grammar School at Leeds and currently Head Swimming Coach at Woodhouse Grove School.

Achievements
A Mansfield Swimming club record? Or a silver in the National Biathalon Championship at 14. Tough choice, but it would have to be either swimming 10.5miles at the age of 13 and raising over a £1000 for charity. But for me would be coaching GSAL boys to their first English Schools medal. There were four committed lads who were not in a swimming club and only trained at School. So although I say boys have achieved the medals, it was nice to be a part of it.

“Shane has taught both my daughter and my son and they both say he has been their favourite teacher. He is clearly passionate about swimming and this has enthused my children greatly. I would definitely recommend getting your children’s lessons with Shane as he is patient and kind and knows how to get the best out of them. Thanks Shane.”

“Shane has been teaching our two children to swim for over three years. He is an experienced and enthusiastic teacher and our children have grown in confidence and ability during this period. Freddie and Georgina really enjoy their swimming lessons; Shane has a great rapport with them and tailors his teaching to meet their needs. Their strokes have developed beautifully and he has had a positive impact on their training for triathlons; allowing them both to compete successfully in the Yorkshire series. Shane has encouraged them to take on challenges such as distance swimming and we have seen great progression in their stamina and fitness levels. I would thoroughly recommend Shane as a swimming teacher.”
